Privacy Policy

For legal review. This policy was drafted against Bahrain’s Personal Data Protection Law (Law No. 30 of 2018) and is published for transparency while it is reviewed by our legal adviser.

GOTRIPS W.L.L (“GoTrips”, “we”) is a licensed travel agency in Riffa, Kingdom of Bahrain (CR 185576-1). This policy explains what personal data we collect when you contact us, book with us or use gotrips.bh, why we collect it, who we share it with and the rights you have under Bahrain’s Personal Data Protection Law (PDPL).

1. Who is responsible for your data

The data controller is GOTRIPS W.L.L, Office v30, Road 7, Block 907, Riffa / Alshargi, Kingdom of Bahrain, P.O. Box 115. For any privacy question or request, email care@gotrips.bh or call +973 7790 7722.

2. What we collect

  • Contact details: name, phone number, WhatsApp number, email address and, for companies, your employer and job title.
  • Identity and travel documents: passport or ID details and copies, date of birth, nationality, residence permit (CPR) details, visa history and photographs, when they are needed for a ticket, hotel, visa or insurance.
  • Booking details: itineraries, traveller names, special requests (for example meals or assistance), loyalty programme numbers and travel preferences.
  • Payment records: the amount, method and reference of payments and refunds. We do not store full card numbers.
  • Communications: WhatsApp messages, emails, call notes and enquiry details, so that we can act on your request and keep a record of what was agreed.
  • Website data: if analytics is enabled, anonymised usage data such as pages viewed, device type and approximate location. We do not run advertising trackers.

3. Why we use it and on what basis

  • To perform a contract with you: quoting, booking, ticketing, visa submission, insurance issuance, changes, refunds and support while you travel.
  • To meet legal obligations: tax and accounting records, airline and immigration requirements, and requests from Bahraini authorities made under law.
  • For our legitimate interests: answering enquiries, keeping records of bookings and communications, preventing fraud, and improving our service and website.
  • With your consent: sending offers or newsletters, and any use of sensitive data (such as health information for special assistance) that is not required for the booking. You can withdraw consent at any time by telling us.

4. Who we share it with

We share only what a booking or request needs, with:

  • airlines, hotels, tour operators, transfer companies, insurers and other travel suppliers who provide the service you booked;
  • visa application centres, embassies and government portals, when you ask us to submit a visa application;
  • our booking, accounting and customer-portal systems (including our ERP provider, whose customer portal is at app.gotrips.bh), our email and messaging providers (Google Workspace, WhatsApp Business) and, if enabled, Google Analytics;
  • banks and payment providers for payments and refunds;
  • authorities, courts or regulators where the law requires it.

We do not sell personal data, and we do not share it with advertisers.

5. Transfers outside Bahrain

Travel is international by nature. When you book a flight, hotel, visa or insurance abroad, your details are sent to the supplier or authority in that country because the service cannot be provided otherwise. Some of our systems are hosted outside Bahrain by established providers with appropriate safeguards. Where the PDPL requires a permitted basis for a transfer, we rely on the performance of your contract or your consent.

6. How long we keep it

Booking, invoice and payment records are kept for the period required by Bahraini commercial and tax law (generally five years from the end of the financial year). Passport and ID copies collected for a single booking are deleted or securely archived once the booking and any related visa or refund process is complete. Enquiries that do not become bookings are kept for up to 12 months. Analytics data is retained according to the provider’s standard settings.

7. How we protect it

Access to customer data is limited to staff who need it for their work. Our systems use password protection, encrypted connections (HTTPS) and access logging, and paper copies are kept in a locked office. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, so if you suspect a problem with your data, contact us at once.

8. Your rights

Under the PDPL you can ask us to: confirm whether we hold your data and give you a copy; correct data that is inaccurate; delete data we no longer need; stop or limit a use you object to; and withdraw a consent you gave. Write to care@gotrips.bh and we will reply within the time the law allows. If you are not satisfied, you may complain to the Personal Data Protection Authority of the Kingdom of Bahrain.

9. WhatsApp, cookies and analytics

Messages sent to our WhatsApp Business number are handled by Meta under its own terms; we keep them as part of your booking record. Our website sets no advertising cookies. If Google Analytics is enabled, it uses cookies or similar technology to measure visits in aggregate; you can block cookies in your browser without losing access to any page. We do not collect personal data through forms on this site; enquiries are made by WhatsApp, phone, email or in person.

10. Children

We process children’s details only when a parent or guardian books travel for them.

11. Changes to this policy

We will post any change on this page with a new “last updated” date.
