Georgia Trip from Bahrain 2026: The Complete Guide (Tbilisi, Kazbegi, Batumi)
Quick answer: Bahraini citizens enter Georgia visa-free for one full year. Bahrain residents with a valid residence permit enter visa-free for 90 days in any 180; nationals of 17 countries, including Pakistan and Bangladesh, need a permit valid for at least one year on the day of entry. Since 1 January 2026, every tourist must hold health and accident insurance of at least GEL 30,000. Gulf Air is the only nonstop carrier (September 2026 schedules) between Bahrain and Tbilisi (about 4 hours).

Georgia visa for Bahrainis and Bahrain residents
Bahraini citizens
Visa-free for one full year. Bahrain is on Georgia's Government Ordinance No. 255 (2015) list of countries whose citizens may enter and stay for a full year without a visa. A valid passport is enough.
Bahrain residents (non-Bahraini)
Holders of a valid Bahrain residence permit enter Georgia visa-free for 90 days in any 180-day period, provided the permit is valid on the day of entry. Bahrain is on Georgia's list of countries whose residence-permit holders are visa-exempt (latest consolidated version April 2025).
Important for 17 nationalities: since 17 April 2025, GCC residents from the following countries need a residence permit valid for at least one year on the date of entry; otherwise they must apply for an e-visa:
Afghanistan, Bangladesh, Cameroon, Congo, Côte d'Ivoire, Ethiopia, Eritrea, Ghana, Morocco, Nigeria, Pakistan, Somalia, Sudan, Syria, Tanzania, Uganda, Yemen.
Indian and Filipino residents are not on that list, so the general rule applies (permit valid on entry, 90 days in 180).

Mandatory travel insurance for Georgia from 1 January 2026
The biggest change for 2026, and many travellers still don't know it. Under Georgia's Law on Tourism, every foreign tourist must hold valid health and accident insurance:
- Cover: at least GEL 30,000 (about BHD 4,300).
- Period: the whole stay, including arrival and departure days.
- Format: paper or electronic, in Georgian or English.
- Insurer: Georgian or foreign, as long as the policy shows the parties, territory, dates, insured risks, sum insured and premium.
- Exempt: diplomatic/special passport holders, accredited mission staff and international drivers.
Our tip: carry the English policy both on your phone and on paper; airlines and border police may ask for it.
Flights from Bahrain to Georgia
- Nonstop: Gulf Air is the only airline (per September 2026 schedules) flying nonstop between Bahrain International Airport and Tbilisi. Weekly frequency changes by season; flight time is about 4 hours.
- One stop: flydubai via Dubai (Tbilisi, and Batumi seasonally), Jazeera Airways via Kuwait, and other Gulf carriers via their hubs.
- Batumi and Kutaisi: we found no nonstop flights from Bahrain in 2026; go via a hub or by road from Tbilisi.

Practical tips for travellers from Bahrain
- Halal food: widely available in Tbilisi and Batumi (Turkish, Lebanese and Arab restaurants, and around the Juma Mosque in Old Tbilisi). Georgia has no official halal certification body, so ask the restaurant.
- Money: change a little at the airport, the rest at city exchange offices; carry cash for villages and mountain areas.
- Clothing: even in summer, Kazbegi and Gudauri get cool at night; pack a light jacket.
- Churches: modest dress; women may be asked to cover their hair in some.
